Buzzy Birthday Part 2

Buzzy, Shawn and Shea

Yesterday’s mention of Buzzy’s birthday got me thinking about how he celebrated his birthday back in 2008.  Buzzy spent most of that afternoon at Shea’s place at Christmas Hill in Drayden.  (At the time Shea was renting from his boss Dennis Edwards and decided to have a crab party/picnic that Saturday which  coincided with Buzzy’s birthday.)  As I drove him into the party, Buzzy looked at the farmhouse there and commented that “It looks like the old home place” a reference to where he grew up at the end of Deep Creek Road.

We stayed awhile, had birthday cake and enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon.  Around 3 p.m. we made a move and I was planning on bringing him down to the Store to continue his birthday celebration.  However, as we headed south he told me to take him back to Bayside Nursing Home saying “One party a day is enough.”   I teased him that he just didn’t want to buy a round.

This would be his last birthday here with us.  I’m glad that he got to spend some time at a party at a place that reminded him of his boyhood home.
