Buzzy and I were in China on this day ten years ago having breakfast when a fellow tourist joined us and asked if we lived anywhere near La Plata, Maryland. When we said yes, he informed us that he had just seen on the news that an F4 tornado had struck down in La Plata and had caused a lot of damage. We returned to our room, and after checking out the news, I suggested to Buzzy that we call Berta to see if anything had hit down in St. Mary’s. Buzzy nixed it by saying “Naw, it’s not a damn thing we can do about it from here and if anything happened to the Store, Berta will take care of it.”
