| LP and A-48 |
In 1972 the Ridge Volunteer Rescue Squad purchased a new Cadillac Ambulance which became known as A-48. It served the community for many years and in a number of ways. One of the more interesting uses of the ambulance occurred when the leading force behind the establishment of the Ridge Rescue Squad, John K. Erly passed away, and it was used as a hearse to transport Mr. Erly to his final resting place. The old ambulance was eventually replaced with a newer model and after the fire to the Rescue Squad in 2001, it was moved outside where it quickly fell into disrepair. After years of fund raising and primarily through the efforts of LP Mercure, A-48 is back to its original splendor. It is currently in Ocean City to participate in the annual Maryland State Firemen’s Association Parade set for this Wednesday. Good job LP!
