Here’s a good video documentary that discusses the integration of St. Mary’s County Schools. Narrated by Betty Currie, it’s an interesting look at how the whole school desegregation issue was managed fairly smoothly here in St. Mary’s. 
At the video’s 1:57 mark, the picture shown to depict how segregated things were back in the day, is a photo of my sister Lila’s First Holy Communion class. She’s in the middle, in front of Father Veith.
