Remember when “Draft Day” was not an anticipated event? Those not lucky enough to avoid being drafted into our Rich Uncle’s Army know what a bummer those two words were.
Well, thanks to the Volunteer Army and to the NFL, the phrase “Draft Day” now symbolizes a good thing. It went down yesterday as NFL teams drafted college players. Naturally fans are optimistic about who their team selected.
The Ravens went for help on the defense and selected safety Matt Elam from Florida. With a number of last year’s starting defense either signing elsewhere or retiring, they need help on their defense.
Recently, the Ravens attempted to address this need by signing former Raiders’ linebacker Rolando McClain. (With apologies to diehard Raiders’ fan Winkie, if the Raiders turned Rolando loose, that’s a major red flag.) Here’s an excerpt describing Rolando’s latest “escapade” in his hometown Decatur, Alabama: (For rest of story click here.)

OK, so he was burning tires and someone spit on his car. Who wouldn’t have overreacted to that? But then it comes out that Rolando is also currently awaiting trial on the following incident:
Although signing his name like that is kind of funny, it still sounds like Rolando is a bit of slow learner when it comes to dealing with cops. Ravens fans better hope that their draftee Matt Elam develops in a hurry.
As for Rolando, if he’s still with the Ravens come Buzzy’s Car Show time, I may invite him down. I will assure him that no one will spit on his car if he burns tires. However, he’s on his own when it comes to how he deals with the cops. Last time I burnt some tires and had to deal with the cops, I ended up drafted into the Army.
