In 2005, Buzzy and I travelled on a NARFE-sponsored bus trip to Nashville, Memphis, Branson and Ashville. As it turned out, this would be the last organized tour that we took. Long bus rides, coupled with scheduling problems, some annoying co-tourists and a bus driver who kept getting us lost, made it one of the least enjoyable tours we took after many years of traveling around the world on some very outstanding tours.
One of the scheduling problems that arose took place when our tour guide made an impromptu, en route decision to divert us from our itinerary and make a visit to Lambert’s Cafe in Missouri. That the restaurant was roughly four hours out of our way didn’t seem to phase our guide who assured us that it would be worth it.
In the following video, you will see what she wanted to show us. It was ok. However, after our meal there and once we were back on the bus, I found myself in complete agreement with Buzzy who noted “I’m not sure that all that was worth a 4 hour detour just to have people throw biscuits at you.”
