Designated Parking for These Guys?

Awhile back when the asphalt guys were doing some repaving of Down County roads, one of their reps came into Buzzy’s Country Store and offered to repave my parking lot.  As part of his sales pitch he noted “I’ll throw in the striping for free.”  After I asked him what he meant, he told me “You know, designated parking spaces with striping every 7 feet.  I’ll even mark some for Handicapped Parking Only, Reserved for Owner, whatever you like.”

I told him that I was not too keen on it because you don’t see designated parking at old time country stores.  Good salesman that he was and quick on his feet, the rep came back with “Their parking lots weren’t asphalted either.”  I agreed with him but then told him my real concern was, “I’m afraid that if I had designated parking spots, my Buzzy friends and visitors wouldn’t use them anyway.”

Along those lines, or maybe that should be “not along those lines”, here is a parking photo that Brian Barnhill sent me with his caption “Always have some chalk on you:”

(Following my posting this, Kim Wiley sent me this Bad Parking website proving that yes, there is a website for everything.)
