My Mom gave me this picture of three men holding some fish in a barroom. It documents one of the few, maybe even only times that a fish story told in a barroom actually involved some real fish. On the back of the photo, someone has identified the individuals as John Abell Hammett, J. Frank Raley, Sr., and Jerry Norris. I showed the photo to our Capt. Jerry Norris who identified the individual as his father and estimated that the photo was taken in the 50’s. Capt. Jerry recognized the watch worn by his Father and noted that “Daddy always did have big hands.”

Note that the picture was a Polaroid. It pains me to think that I may have to explain to some of you who are not yet of a certain age just what a Polaroid is or was. However, I mention it only because it is the reason why the above photo quality is so poor. Good example of why Polaroid’s, like their photo products, just faded away.
Speaking of fading away, check out the Dead’s version here of Not Fade Away and Going Down the Road set to a video described as: “Reel #4 from Wallace Kelly’s 1939 trip through the Western United States. Kelly, a newspaperman from Lebanon, Kentucky, was also an accomplished photographer, painter, and writer. He began shooting film in 1929 and continued until the 1950s.”
In particular, check out the Service Station Coke stop at the 2:15 mark.
