Two for the Road

Ross Cutting Wood (from Virtual Tourist)

Remember Ross the Scarecrow at St. Mary’s City?  I kinda miss that dude.  Every day doing my drive from Piney Point to Scotland I’d always make it point to see just what Ross was up to.  I guess Ross has retired.  However, I still glance over whenever I drive by to see if he’s made a comeback but still no Ross.

Instead, I have a couple other touchstone yard art subjects to acknowledge on my daily trek.  The first is Gazebo Lady located at Blanche’s Acres on Rt. 249 adjacent to Smith’s Lawnmower Repair Shop.  Unlike Ross however, GL stays the same, always stationed dutifully every day and night with her watering can.  Too bad we couldn’t have hooked her and Ross up because I bet that he would have had her doing some things.  (The Dexter side of me hypothesizes that maybe Gazebo Lady kidnapped ole Ross, knocked him off and has him buried somewhere under her plants.)

A second place that I enjoy checking out is Irvinette and Junior Hall’s Tranquil Time farm located at the corner of Park Hall Road and Rt 5 just down from the Green Door.  In particular, I always check to make sure that their Wine Bottle Tree is doing ok.  May just have to plant one of them at Buzzy’s Country Store.
