Blessing of the Fleet and Pt. Lookout

Speaking of oysters (previous post) this coming weekend features the 7th District Optimists’ Annual Blessing of the Fleet.   (I recall Son Shea when he was about 5 or 6 years old asking me “If it’s about oystering, why do they bless their FEET.”)

Also, this weekend, Pt. Lookout Lighthouse will be open this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more info click here.

Pt. Lookout State Park also has a nice little Civil War museum that is full of artifacts, documents and displays from the War of Northern Aggression.  Shame that the museum is so hidden away and somewhat inaccessible to the general public but should they ever want to move it out of the Park,  I’ve got a great location for it.

And then next Saturday, Pr. Lookout Lighthouse will host a 5K Run fundraiser (click here for details.)
