Blockbuster Busted

Daughter Reagan (left) worked at the Blockbuster in Lexington Park (below) for a couple years and then at one in Baltimore while she went to college.   Because she was dependable, honest and hardworking, eventually she become an Assistant Manager. She called me one day and informed me that someone from “Corporate” had visited their store and wanted her to consider going to their Blockbuster Management School.  The Buzzy in me came out, as I told her that I hadn’t spent thousands of dollars for her to go to college to become a Blockbuster manager; but if that made her happy then she should go for it. Thankfully, she didn’t.

California, Maryland Blockbuster – Now Closed

Here is a long but good article by a former employee of Blockbuster (click here.)   It contains some funny insights particularly near the end when the author discusses the release of Titanic and Celine Dion “singing that goddamn song over and over.”  My sentiments exactly.

Article also contains the employee’s take on  handling customer complaints.  His approach applies to all customer service dealings in that if you act right, the clerk will probably help you out.  If you don’t act right, it’s your fault for the service you do or don’t get.
