Here’s another example of why one should never be so quick to disparage or think ill of something just because it doesn’t initially jibe with one’s point of view.
When my friend Ollie Kangas purchased a stuffed ham sandwich from Kevin Thompson at the Health Share Holiday tour yesterday, he asked if Kevin had any mayonaise. Thinking that Ollie was joking, I laughed and said to him “That’s a good one.” Ollie replied “No, I’m serious. That’s what makes a stuffed ham sandwich really good.” Kevin found some mayo for Ollie who then spread it onto his sandwich and proceeded to consume it.
Between the lousy weather and Sunday football, I didn’t think any more about this little exchange with Ollie until this morning when I fixed breakfast for the grandkids. While they were knocking back their pancakes, I made a stuffed ham sandwich and threw some mayo on it to see how it tasted.
You know what? It is very good. Unbelievably good as a matter of fact. I had to laugh at how I reacted when Ollie made his request which at first sounded so offbeat at the time. It made me wonder why I had never thought of nor tried it before since I like mayo on just about any other sandwich. Never thought to put it on it a stuffed ham sandwich though.
Again, as Earl Weaver noted “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.”
P.S. Stuffed ham even has it’s own FB page click here.
