Two for Tuesday

Brian Barnhill and I often discuss desert island music i.e. those select songs/albums you would have with you on the island.  My desert island musical survival kit would definitely include Elvis Costello’s My Aim is True” album.   Confession time.  There are lots of those days when I don’t have the get up and go to get up and go, and the line from “Mystery Dance” will  run thru my mind: “I can’t do it any more and I’m not satisfied.”
The irony however, is once I get this song running thru my head and get past the refrain, it does make me want to get up and go.  Thank you Elvis.  (He always reminds me of either Cousin Clarke Raley or my buddy Rick Meatyard, those glasses you know.)

Then there was this young lady wearing red shoes who came into Buzzy’s Country Store a few weeks back.  When I told her that anytime I saw someone wearing red shoes it reminded me of an Elvis Costello song, she asked “Who’s Elvis Costello?”  I’m so old.  Leads me to wonder if maybe I shouldn’t make a bargain with some angel so I won’t grow any older.  Only problem is, I don’t own any red shoes.
