Given all the churn in Ukraine, my son Brady asked if I still had the “Parking Reserved for Ukrainians” sign that Buzzy used to have posted in the front window of the Store.
The sign was a gift to Buzzy from Steve (Polock) Soroco, who is from Ukraine. (Buzzy gave Steve the nickname Polock because he (Buzzy) lumped anyone from that part of the world as a “Polock.” I discussed all this in a previous post click here.)

First year or two after I bought the Store from Buzzy, I left the sign in the front window. However, during the summer months I found myself answering tourists’ questions about it. Some even worried about having parked in front of the sign because they weren’t from Ukraine. Some, who were actually from Ukraine, came in looking for a fellow countryman. This wasn’t a major problem as I enjoyed explaining to folks the Polock connection to/with the sign. However, when the Miller and Budweiser beer distributors gave me some new neon signs to hang up in the window, I decided it was time to retire the Ukrainian Parking sign.
In recognition of whatever is going on over there now however, the sign is back in the front window. Hopefully, all non-Ukrainian tourists will continue to ignore it and park there anyway.
