From one of my favorite websites Shorpy.com here are two versions of a Dorothea Lange photo of Currin’s Store in North Carolina. Some of the accompanying comments involved a discussion as to why Pepsi signs were not present along with the Coke and the Royal Crown Cola signs. Pepsi was invented in 1898 in New Bern, North Carolina but yet Coke still seems to be the predominant presence sign-wise in all these old country store photos.
