Ready to Gamble (?)

Wonder how many folks when doing a word association drill would respond “Gambler” if the prompt word was “Degenerate?”

Anyway, for those of you who are so inclined to do so there are several football games today that are “interesting.”  (However, remember my take on the word “interesting:” that whenever you hear it used, just substitute “f’ed up” and you’ll have its true meaning.)

Rarely do you see a betting line in football move more than a point or two.  Once the Vegas

boys put the Monday morning line out there they don’t like moving it too much because they get “exposed.”  Here below are 2 lines that have moved 3 or more points this week with the Skins-Cowboys coming close to doing so too at 2 1/2 points movement.  Ravens went from being a 3 point underdog to now being a 2 point favorite.  Steelers went from Pick ’em, i.e. even up, to being a 3 point dog at home.

Cowboys opened as a 7 point favorite over the Redskins and once all the Texas oil money boys jumped on that, Vegas upped the line to 9 1/2.

So on this day when football starts at 9:30 a.m. with the Lions and Falcons playing in England, you can waste 14 hours watching football all day and night. If you sprinkle a little gambling into the equation it could be a fun day for you.  I’ll stick with the old wagering standby of taking home dogs (Bengals and Steelers) along with the Skins and Packers covering for a 4 team parlay.   Let the gambling begin.  New Jersey was all set to begin legalized sports gambling this weekend but not enough money must have changed hands and hence a last minute hold was placed on it  (click here for story.)
