Then Sherry commented:
While we have stopped stirring drinks with the ice pick/oyster knife, Sherry’s comment did remind me of something that Connie Lynch once relayed to me. Connie had hired Buzzy’s Thursday-night-Terri to clean her house for her. (Terri works full time at Food Lion, tends bar at Buzzy’s and then still finds time to clean houses!)
Connie’s friend Lois was impressed with how good a job Terri had done and asked Connie how she had found Terri. After Connie told Lois that “Terri is the bartender at Buzzy’s,” Lois replied “Some bartender, they give you a miniature and a cup, and then tell you to get your own ice and coke to mix in it.”
Although it is not quite as direct as Lois made it out to sound, that is pretty much the Buzzy way for getting a mixed drink in the Store. But now that Sherry has mentioned it, I may have to restart that oyster knife/icepick routine just to make folks think we are “mixing” it for them.
