Hallelujah?

Jeff Buckley’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah was playing on the radio as I returned to the Store yesterday after having attended the prayers/visitation for Charlie’s wife Dot.  At Dot’s service, all sorts of family photo’s showed her and Charlie with their children and grandchildren thru the years.  It was very well done but it made me sad and reflective of just how short and fragile life can be.   Then hearing the song at the Store summed it all up in some summing-up kind of way.

Initially, I wasn’t going to comment on any of this as these past couple months a lot of prayers and funerals have been going on.  Too many it seems.

However, I just saw that this America’s Got Talent video of a young lady performing Hallelujah has gone viral (click here.)   As you’ll hear on the video’s intro, the performer was dealing with her own set of life’s curve balls.

But the version of Hallelujah that I still prefer is this video below featuring vocalist Lindsey Morano.  (I did dig out my Leonard Cohen CD version though and plan to play it on the way to Dot’s funeral later this morning.  “There’s blaze of light in every word, It doesn’t matter which you heard,  the holy or the broken Hallelujah.”
