Batshit Crazy

From http://www.psmueller.com/batshit.htm

Isn’t it funny how a quote or a phrase will pop up and suddenly be used all over the place?  For example, I’m sure that you’ve encountered recently – Can’t fix stupid;  What’s up with that? Epic fail. Old fart examples would include the likes of – Where’s the beef?  Don’t worry, be happy.  Make him an offer he can’t refuse etc.

I always know when a phrase has really made it into the lexicon because I will hear it said and re-said in Buzzy’s Country Store.  If it can make it in Buzzy’s, then it can make it anywhere right?

One saying that is currently making the rounds is “Batshit crazy.” In addition to hearing it used frequently in the Store, I’ve also heard it used a lot in describing some of the folks who have have decided to run for President a la Ted Cruz.   (However, if you Google Batshit Crazy Images, all sorts of politicos and celebrity folks tend to get lumped in with the term.)

So my curious mind got me wondering – where did that phrase come from?  Found the following explanation which, if you click the link below it, also discusses the above cartoon’s use of the phrase:)
