Saturday in South County

Lots going on this weekend in South County.  Why not get out your house, leave the yard work behind you, take a ride south and while you’re down this way, well, you know what to do after you attend one of these places/events.  Buzzy’s will have a cold one waiting for you.  Here is an itinerary for you:
On your way down to God’s country, first hit the Farm Market just south of the Base across from Hermanville Road.

Then head south on 235 and stop in Carroll’s Equipment. You’ll be surprised at what all they have in stock:
(I nicked this 1930 photo from their website. Not going Frankie Tippett on you here or anything like that, but I just liked this old photo of their business:)

Next, continue south to St. Michael’s Church/School to swing by my Sister Donna’s Place.  OK, so they call it St. Michael’s Wings and Things Thrift Store but it’s really my sister Donna Jean’s operation.

Now after all that browsing and shopping, roll down Wynne Road to Joe and Cindy Salvo’s Sunset Cove Restaurant at Pt. Lookout Marina. They just opened a few weeks ago and are worth checking out.  For you traditionalists, Tommy and Julie Courtney are still serving up excellent food also.
And speaking of tradition, after you’ve had your lunch continue south to the most traditional of all places hosting the most traditional of all events – Buzzy’s 4 O’clock Club. No food is served, but the beer is cold and the hospitality is great, exceeded only by the amount of b.s. that you can stand.
