Horseshoes Up or Down?

Last week when I posted the Kamila Harris wedding photo ( cropped version to the left) of a couple posing in front of a barn,  I couldn’t help but notice the horseshoe that was hanging over the door. 

My first thought was – hey, that’s not a good omen for the couple because the horseshoe should be facing upwards and not down.  I was always under the impression that it was considered bad luck to have a horseshoe faced downwards because all of the luck in the shoe would run out of it.  My opinion may have been shaped by the fact that Buzzy had a horseshoe installed over the front door of the Store with the open end facing upwards (see below.)

But, thanks to that world wide internet thingamagig, I now learn that it’s ok if horseshoes go both ways.  (The times we live in right?)  Here is a good article on it (click here.)
