On the subject of art and coincidences (yesterday’s post) here is another one for you only this time with a local twist.
My sister Donna recently invited me to drop into the St. Michael’s Thrift Store because there was an item someone had dropped off that she thought I might be interested in. While strolling thru the shop I saw this copy of Mary Lou Troutman’s St. Mary’s County and purchased that too. It didn’t cost much but Pam likes it enough that she wants to have it matted and framed. Once that bill rolls in I got a feeling this Mary Lou will be a valuable item.
It has been rolling around in the back seat of our car and just yesterday we were reminded that it was still there and that we needed to drop it off at Michael’s.
Later on in the afternoon at Buzzy’s Country Store, someone purchased a copy of Mary Lou’s painting of the Store and informed me that it was my last copy. (Each spring Mary Lou makes me a couple dozen 5 x 7 copies of the Store painting and this year I have gone thru them all.)
So I made a note “Call Mary Lou for more copies.”
However, a couple hours later I couldn’t believe it when the Deputy Mayor of Scotland Beach (we all know who the Mayor is) Steve Wilkinson rolled into Buzzy’s and said “Hey J., I got something to show you that I just picked up.” He produced the following Mary Lou painting of Rick’s Marine:
For those of you who don’t know it, Mary Lou’s shop is located on Rt. 235 just north of Ridge on Lois Lane. You’ll see the banners hanging on either side of the lane. To visit, call first @ 301-872-5807.
Only one song can follow right?
