First day of school is here, can you believe it? Seems like only short while ago, actually on 11 June, that Pat Birmingham and several of the St. Michael’s School staff dropped into Buzzy’s Country Store for their “last school day” semi-celebration. They posed here in Ray Gagnon’s Galante. (Check out that Buzzy decal he has on the side window.)

Then just yesterday I made the bus stop for the Grand kids’ first day pickup which is always one of my favorite school-related gigs. Stephanie took these nice photo’s, one of which included me with a very attractive Grandma (Steph’s mom Marion.) Actually the kids call her Bella so I guess between the two of us we could be Bella and Gran J which sounds kind of like a rap duo doesn’t it?
But let’s talk some bidness here for a minute. Why back to school so early? Check out this article showing that over $74 million potential tourist income is lost due to schools starting back so early. That’s a lot of green.
Too, money aside, how much value-added teaching and learning experience goes on during these early half days’ sessions? Buzzy’s Country Store has a school board rep who drops in frequently, so I may just have to bug her about this. Chuck had it nailed back it 1957.
Check out Chuck’s FB page (click here.) Still posting and rocking at 88 (click here.) Maybe he should cover this great tune. (See if you recognize the lady at the 00:45, 1:24 and 2:24 marks. Think I’ve mentioned her somewhere before.)
