Periodic poetry post here today so if that’s not your thing, just take a pass and see you tomorrow when it will be back to the rock and roll prose and b.s. as usual. (Try as I may, I could not come up with a decent enough oxymoron involving this and the Trumpster as in “Poetry and the Buzzyblog go together sort of like Donald Trump goes together with _______ (fill in the blank with one of the following.) Class? Subtlety? Politeness? Honesty? Logic? Credibility? Manners? Charisma? Gentility? Kindness? Sincerity? Prudence? Sensitivity? Tactfulness? Discernment? Sanity? Caution? Gravitas? Discretion? Consideration? Humility? Chivalry? Decency? Courteousness? Judgement? Dignity? Graciousness? Civility? Diplomacy? Thoughtfulness? Charm? I could go on, but I think you get my drift.)
Heard a radio guy discussing Reagan’s 1986 speech to the Nation following the Challenger disaster and how good the Great Communicator was at that moment. The radio commentator specifically mentioned the “slipped the surly bonds” line in the speech and noted that speechwriter Peggy Noonan had lifted that from a poem written by 19 year old James Magee a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air force.
As Paul Harvey would say, here then is the rest of the story:

The poem (also from Wiki.com:)
And on the subject of flying, touching God and slipping out of bonds, here are the Burrito Boys again with some Easy Rider thrown in. (I had forgotten about Karen Black and did not know that she died from cancer in 2013.)
Also, just for fun, here is my video of my helicopter ride above the Buzzy Car Show and the Ridge/Scotland area in 2014. Note that while I did not get to touch the face of God, I did manage to see from above Cousin Clyde burning tires in front of the Store. Touching God’s face may not compare to that! (Click here.)
