Twofer Tuesday – Trump and Tattoo You

Couldn’t help but smile at the irony of the following Start Me Up story in the headlines:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-rolling-stones-stop-music-election-2016/

I say ironic because when Trump entered to do his victory speech the other night and Start Me Up was being played,  my first thought was “Guess the Klein folks own that one too and they have given Donnie permission to use it.”  (If you are unfamiliar with the back story on this, Allen Klein who managed the Stones for some time owns the publishing rights to much of their early stuff (click here.)

But the irony about hearing Start Me Up involves something that I had started to write, never finished and had filed away as a draft titled Tatoo You.  Here is what I had come up with:

People often ask me how I manage to come up with “stuff” for the Buzzyblog and I always joke with them that Buzzy’s Country Store provides me with more than enough material.  Between the crazy stories told in the Store, the things that happen in the Store and the many visitors and friends to the Store, I generally have a ready source of material to draw from even on what I call dry-spell-days.

However, when I do hit a cul de sac where nothing comes to mind for the Buzzyblog, I always think – Tattoo You.  Here is why.

Tatoo You was the title of a Rolling Stones album that featured the song Start Me Up.  I remember buying the album when it first came out, playing it repeatedly and going “Wow, this is great.”  A week or two later, I read a review of it and the reviewer panned it because he stated it was just a collection of some old stuff lying around that the Stones hadn’t bothered to release.

So whenever I don’t have anything “new” to say here on the Buzzyblog, I look thru different things that folks have sent me, scour draft posts that I had started and never completed and sort of like the producer above for Tatoo You put ’em all in the hopper just to see what shakes out.

(As for a summary for these two Start Me Up ironies, I was going to say something clever about the Trumpster and him making a grown man cry but it kept sounding too corny even for the Buzzyblog and the Donald. So let me work on that one and I’ll save it for another dry day.)
