Gladys Knight performs tonite in D.C. at a Kennedy Center celebration of Martin Luther King and his legacy. I saw Gladys many years ago in Vegas and she put on a pretty good show. However, this was after she had gone solo and had left the Pips. (The Pips were Gladys’ relatives – Bubba Knight her brother and William Guest and Edward Patten, her cousins (click here for more info.) Only Bubba is still around today.
Remember this Geico commercial featuring the Pips? That’s Bubba Knight on the right and William Guest on the left. Dude in the middle was another backup singer Neil Taffee.
Did you know that Midnight Train to Georgia was originally written as Midnight Plane to Houston (click here?)
