The Cheers/Buzzy comparison reminded me of something that one of Peggy’s renters wrote in an article following her visit to Buzzy’s (click here for the complete article.)
I am good with Buzzy’s being compared to Cheers because it was one of my all time favorite shows. Having grown up in Buzzy’s and now sorta cast in the role of Sam behind the counter, I find myself even more of a Cheers-kind-of-guy. As Norm explained to Sam in that final scene after Sam had abandoned his plan to sell the bar “You can never be unfaithful to your one true love.”
And while the author of the above referenced article wasn’t a big Cheers’ fan, she did conclude her article as follows:
That’s not too bad for a final scene is it?
The Killers were performing in Boston so I guess you can rightfully say that they were “playing to their audience.”
