Warming Up

Guess who are among the hottest teams in MLB?  The Orioles and the Nationals after both of them had slow starts to begin the season.  Check out the power rankings below and note that the third column shows the number of jumps or losses in the rankings from the previous week.

The Nationals at #8 in the rankings, have won 8 of their last 10 games, and jumped from #18 in last week’s Power Rankings to #8 this week.  Equally and maybe even more impressive however given how poorly they started off this season, is the Orioles’ jump from #30 to a tie for #21st in the rankings.

The Orioles have won 5 of their last 6 games but will need to keep it up as they play the Phillies and Red Sox in the coming week.  The Nationals, winners of 4 straight, too will have to be on their game as they play the Yankees and Dodgers this coming week.

Man it feels good to be talking baseball!  (I say this despite the fact that my two least favorite teams, the Yankees and Red Sox, are currently tied for ranking Number 1 overall.  The optimist in me says that they have nowhere to go but down.  The realist in me however, knows that they are both playing excellent ball.)

Pearl Jam is always good for getting you into a ball-game-going kind of mood:
