One of the nicest of Christmas cards that I received this season came from my friend John Hamill. He sent this card “to all the gang at Buzzy’s!” He noted that the scene on the card (below) was “the Pilot Station on the C&D Canal in Cecil County. It was torn down in the late 60’s but reminds me of the atmosphere at Buzzy’s.”
On the back of the card was this explanation of the scene:
I did some Google searches on the new Schaefer’s Canal House restaurant and found this (click here.) Also, here is an excerpt discussing the history of Schaefer’s. (For the full story click here.)
In addition to John’s sending such a great card, another Buzzy friend Connie Lynch sent me this very nice note:
To J. Scott and all my friends at Buzzy’s: Merry Christmas and Happy 2020! … I read your blog about your Christmas party at Buzzy’s and all the oysters, the Bruno figure on the wall, and got very homesick for Maryland. Yes, we still own the home in Maryland. I want to come back. Miss all of you! In all my travels have never found a place I feel more comfortable and like more than Buzzy’s. And that’s the truth! Connie
Thank you John and Connie for your nice comments.
OK, so after after all that bonhomie and good heartedness reflective of the Christmas season, I feel compelled to keep things even keeled here and go with some Spinal Tap. This will be the very last Christmas song that I will lay on you this year. After you hear it, you will know why it is the last one. (Lyrics follow to help you decipher what they are singing.)
