Big day today – Groundhog Day! (OK, there’s that football game going on too.) Those of you missing our usual cold and snowy weather this time of year can root that Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow today and thus ensures we have 6 more weeks of winter. Funny how the term Groundhog Day has now become synonymous with doing the same thing over and over again each day. Like “Catch-22” or “Not in Kansas anymore” the catchphrase Groundhog Day has taken on a life of its own as a shortcut way of expressing living out boring and repetitive days.
The writers chose Groundhog Day as opposed to any of our other holidays for the following reason:

I told my Grandson Shawn the other day that I was going to take piano lessons like Bill Murray did in Groundhog Day. Shawn did not get the reference. I told him he needs to watch the movie.
Don’t forget Buzzy’s Super Bowl Party later today. I’ll have the game on the big T-V and if it’s showing somewhere, I’ll put Groundhog Day on the smaller T-V.
