A full moon, known as the Snow Moon, is currently underway. It is also known as a Super Full Moon because it is closer in its approach to Earth and thus, looks bigger.
I recall reading somewhere that when it comes to nature photography, photographing the moon is one of the more challenging of shots. Think about all of the photos you see of sunsets and sunrises and then contrast that to just how few moon photos you ever encounter.
Shooting the moon is a little trickier because you need either a tripod or some other means of keeping your camera steady long enough for the photo to be exposed properly.
Here’s a photography guide should you want to try it later as the Snow Moon makes its appearance (click here.)
Sundays and I still miss looking forward to watching The Sopranos on Sunday nights when a new episode would air. In addition to great actors and great story lines, The Sopranos also incorporated some great music as backdrops for scenes such as this one. Only the Sopranos would take a nice song like this and use it to play in the background as some dude shoves a frozen head into a sewer. Note too how the scene closes at the 2:30 mark just as Mick begins to sing “I am sleeping under strange strange skies.” (Note – the Stones video has some great moon photos.)
