There are three big days in March – Spring, St. Patrick’s Day, and I forget the third one but I’m pretty sure that there is a third one in there somewhere. (Could it be today’s National Pig Day? Or maybe it is the time changing on the 8th?)
But there are several other big days and dates in March that I am 100% sure of. Buzzy birthdays in March include my daughter Ryan’s on the 2nd along with Rich Brewer also on that day. Robbie Hall’s daughter Sheryl McKinnon celebrates hers on the 4th; Tommy Salvo the 7th; Bob Mann and my nephew Michael Hofmeister the 8th; Terri Yates the 16th; my nephew Ian Allen the 25th; and Steve Pratt on the 31st.
For us college basketball fans, March Madness begins with Selection Sunday on the 15th. The March Madness tournament could be renamed the Alliterative Tournament as we go from Selection Sunday to the Sweet Sixteen to the Elite Eight to the Final Four. Through in some flagrant fouls, a double dribble here and there and a buzzer beater or two and now we’re talking some BasketBall! With this year’s Top Teams all fairly equal then, I guess I gotta say alliteratively – look out for the Baylor Bears. But Go Terps! Maryland March Madness has a nice ring to it also.
