Pier 450 – On the Cover

Be sure to check out this week’s County Times featuring Peggy and Cathy’s Pier 450 on the front page and a great article inside the paper.

To read the article (click here and scroll over to pg 15.)  Congrats to them for all their efforts in bringing Scheible’s back to life and making Pier 450 a destination place in South County.

Just yesterday in Buzzy’s Country Store, Rich Brewer and I were talking music when Dr. John’s name  came up.  My first thought was “Cover of the Rolling Stone.”  However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that that wasn’t a Dr. John song.

Turns out that I was half right in that it was by a Doctor Somebody as in Dr. Hook and His Medicine Show (click here.)   Their Cover of the Rolling Stone came to mind because the song’s narrator sings about how his band, despite having worked hard and having paid their dues thru the years, still feels like they haven’t really “made it” because they have yet to be featured on the cover of RS.

I can relate a little because when I saw the County Times, it did cross my mind in an envious kinda way, “Hey, how come Buzzy’s doesn’t get a front page?”

But you know what?  I think I have figured it out:  Peggy’s got those cool shades on and Dr. Hook has that eyepatch thing going for him.  Maybe I need to replace my eyewear with something other than these old fart bifocals that I always wear!
