Demo – Pt. 2

Followup to yesterday’s post. (No, I will not be mentioning the-you-know-who-baseball-team for fear of jinxing them again!)

But referencing the demo video that I included yesterday, here are a couple of still photos of the Justin Browne crew demolishing my former neighbor Pinky Nagel’s house.

As I watched and took these photos, I could not help feeling a little sadden at seeing the old place being torn down.

Pinky (real name Ken) was a good neighbor and an all around great guy. Because he and Charlie Simms were the best of friends, I featured the two of them together several times here on the Buzzyblog as they celebrated each others’ birthdays thru the years. Reminder – birthday get together for Charlie today at Buzzy’s 2 – 4.

Hoagy Carmichael wrote the following song in 1929 when he was just 30 years old and broke due to the Great Depression. (That may explain the overall somewhat depressing tone of the song.) However, thanks to Louis Armstrong recording the song, it gave Hoagy his first big hit along with some much needed financial help.
