Buzzyblog Twofer Tuesday involves a look at how our Maryland State Road folks tried twice to do something to help expedite traffic thru the Great Mills intersection at the Sheetz and bungled it both times. The final i.e. current solution is actually worse than what we were dealing with to begin with.
The first dumb thing they did was to install a second traffic light only a stone’s throw north of the already existing light at the end of Great Mills Road where it intersects Rt. 5. When they began work on the second light many years ago and I sat in traffic watching it being installed, my first thought was “How is adding ANOTHER traffic light going to help make traffic flow any better? Doesn’t make any sense. If even a Ridge boy can see that, why can’t they?”
Turns out I was definitely onto something because a couple months after they installed that light, they quickly removed it only to proceed with dumb move #2 – they blocked any and all traffic from using the road entirely!
Thus, whenever you now pull out of Sheetz and want to head north or south on 5, you have to, well I made this little video to show you just what you have to do:
Suzanne gone I guess I can manage with her no longer around to make me smile whenever I see or hear an Ace Hardware commercial.
Then again her Thighmaster commercial had its moments too! Still a little sad to see her go. Good looking, sexy, funny and could sing. What else is there?
