(Subtitle “I Feel Stupid”
Because I am going to be out of commission for the next couple of weeks, I hit Buzzy’s Country Store early yesterday morning to get some things done both in the Store and in one of the apartments behind the Store.
At noon, I took a break and opened the Store. (That 2 hours of doing those chores did me in.) As I was grabbing some lunch, sitting behind the counter, I decided to use that time to cruise Facebook and its latest entries.
As I did so, I landed on the following featured on one of my go-to FB sites “The Style Invitational.” (WARNING – do NOT spend too much of your time trying figure out what State this is.)
And while I am not going to divulge just how much time I spent trying to figure this out, let’s just say that I regret the time I lost that I won’t get back. See what you come up with; but please don’t dig in like I did should you have any problems trying to figure it out.
I am currently reading a birthday present from Daughter Reagan – David Grohl’s book The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music and it is pretty good. Dave relates what it’s like to become a rock star working one’s way up the ladder to achieve overwhelming success. I just finished where he discusses the events leading up to and surrounding Cobain’s death. Very sad actually and a look at the ugly side of rock n roll fame. I am anxious to continue reading as to how he moved on from there to the Foo Fighters.
P.S. An added bonus to Dave’s story is him describing his early childhood growing up in Northern Virginia, how his Dad was a government bureaucrat and how he and his childhood friends roamed the neighborhoods and enjoyed themselves as kids. Makes for a nice nostalgic trip.
Here he is, as one of the reviewers described it “beating the shit out of his drums:” (Note – if you have never checked out the lyrics to this tune you should do so (click here.) May surprise you. For example there’s this gem: “I’m worse at what I do best, And for this gift I’m being blessed” (1:50 mark.)
