Raindrops

Every time I hear BJ Thomas’ Raindrops Keep Fallin’ tune, I think of attending one of his concerts held at the PG Equestrian Center several years ago. As soon as he was introduced and took the stage, BJ heard from a drunk in the audience sitting a few rows in front of me yell out “Raindrops! Raindrops!”

Since it was small venue, everyone present of course heard the dude when he yelled it out. BJ was gracious enough at first and acknowledged the guy by saying “I’m gonna get to it.”

However, after every song that BJ subsequently sang, the clown persisted in yelling out “Raindrops” just as BJ would try to introduce his next tune. After several repeats of this, it apparently got to BJ enough for him to say to the guy “Look, I don’t know how many concerts you have ever attended, but the custom is to play the bigger hits near the end of the show and not at the beginning. Now if you will just be patient and shut up, I promise you I will get to it eventually.” Most of the audience laughed and just about everyone where I was sitting not only laughed but also applauded because the guy really was being obnoxious and annoying all of us around him.

Eventually of course BJ did cover Raindrops. He did so however, without any acknowledgment of nor to the dude sitting in front of me.

And while I appreciate the way BJ handled that situation, my preference would have been to have had security escort the dude out the door. (For example check out how this concert incident was handled (click here.))

Musically, you’ve heard Raindrops several times here on the Buzzyblog, so how about another variation of telling someone to hit the road? The inspiration for this tune supposedly came after a former boyfriend dropped in one morning only to have his ex tell him “Don’t come around here no more.” As for who these two celebs were, it may surprise you (click here.)

P.S. In case you haven’t heard, there is something going on with the sun and moon today. Buzzy’s Country Store is closed, but you are welcome to come sit on the porch and try and get a glimpse of, you know:
