Ken Lamb was in Buzzy’s Country Store the other day and of course we talked things fishing. While we mostly discussed retail aspects of fishing, e.g. the high price of blood worms, I neglected to thank Ken for his weekly fishing report that he publishes in the local paper “The County Times.”
I use Ken as my reference to respond to inquiries such this one that I got just last night via a phone call:
“Hey man, me and some buddies are heading down that way this weekend to do some fishing and I was wondering – what’s biting?” Fortunately I had just seen “Visit St. Mary’s” FB page wherein they had cited Ken’s fishing report and I was able to respond accordingly.
After I got off the phone with my wanna-be-fisherman, Pam asked me how often I got calls like that? I told her quite a few it seems and thanks to Ken, I am able to respond accordingly and at least sound like I know what I’m talking about. (Full disclosure, when it comes to things fishing, I really am a fish out of water on the subject. (I know very bad attempt at a pun, but I think you get my drift.))
Traveling around Ireland and being so near the water, Van’s classic tune “Into the Mystic” continually ran thru my head. Yesterday, as I was listening to some music from Leon Bridges, I heard the intro to one of his tunes and immediately thought “Hey, those are the chords from “Into the Mystic.”
A short time later in day, I saw where a FB friend of mine had dedicated that tune in memory of her sister who had passed away 20 years ago. It was a sad and very touching tribute to her sister and it moved me very much even if the song had not been on my mind so much recently.
But then just today, I read a review of Zac Brown’s Tuesday night appearance at Commanders Field and I went looking for some video of it. Could not believe it when I landed on the following. Again, the power and beauty of music is that it really is everywhere, even when you are not looking for it
