Last Show

On this date in rock history Elvis performed his final concert in Indianapolis. Here is a good article discussing that show along with a couple of videos of it (click here.) Less than two months later on 16 August the King would be dead.

As the article notes, at this point in his life Elvis was overweight and pale but still managed to put on a good show and he sounded great. The following video is from a show he did on 16 June 77 and you can see him sweating and looking a little tired and frail, but his voice was still there and he sounded great. Elvis was only 42 when he checked out of here.

P.S. Speaking of sweating, I am currently experiencing some beer cooler issues at Buzzy’s Country Store. And while I am not a conspiracist, it sure does seem like every year around the 4th of July, one of my coolers will decide to act up as if they collude and say “Let’s screw with J. Scott awhile and make him sweat some.” With that said however, there are still plenty of cold beers on hand for you to drop in and drink one.

I got the Simmons Air folks due in today to get my main cooler in the Store back up and running. When the cooler is back online, we’ll toast one to them and Elvis. To quote Gordon’s lyric from Early Morning Rain “Now the liquor tasted good….”
