My Days Really Are Numbered

When my friend Billy Fitzgerald chimed in on my Buzzyblog post claiming that I had done close to 8,000 posts, he sent me to the drawing board – literally!

After I stated that I had done 7,832 posts here on the Buzzyblog, Billy, being the Numbers Crunching Kinda Guy that he is, correctly noted:

And while I appreciated Billy giving me credit and kudos by hi lighting such a stat, I immediately caught a gear and thought “Wait a minute, I’ve only been doing the blog since 2008 so based upon Catholic school math, something is way off by a margin of 5 to 6 years.”

At this point in my life, I wasn’t too keen on knocking any years off of anything I had going for me. However, I undertook the task of trying to figure out why the number of posts versus number of years wasn’t syncing.

After some digging, I learned that my officially published post tally according to the WordPress hosts who track such data, was over stated by approximately 2,000 posts. Some further digging revealed that many of the daily Buzzyblog posts thru the years had been duplicated in their records when they migrated previous blog posts over from the Blogger platform that I had been using pre-WordPress.

To correct the problem, I scrolled thru all 8,000 posts and deleted the 2,000 duplicated items. Took me awhile to do so, but I got it done.

After scrubbing and deleting duplicated posts, it brought my total down to 6,100 published posts. Applying the Billy F. calculus then, that also brought my total number of years down to a more accurate range of 16+ years of Buzzyblog items.

Maybe with a little luck and some Divine intervention, I can and will eventually hit Billy’s 21.5 years of Buzzyblog posts. (If I knew how to do so, I would insert the text phone’s crossed fingers emoji here.)

I do know how to embed some music though and here is another obvious tune from yesterday’s “Say Hey” choices of songs. It is the classic baseball tune from the other F-guy as in John Fogerty. I have played this bad boy several times previously but unlike most people, places and things, it never gets old. (Note that Willie’s “The Catch” is shown at the 1:50 mark.)

Thank you Brady!
