Dameron – “A Healthy and Pleasant Place to Live”

Moving on up the road, cruising thru Father Johnson’s booklet about citizens and towns in St. Mary’s, today we make a stop in Dameron. (Again, as was the case with Scotland, it was very nice to see Father’s inclusion of Dameron in his survey of County towns and villages.)

In his discussion of this town, Father mentions the three first families of Dameron: the Carrolls, the Trossbachs and its namesake the Damerons. (I could make a case that Father Johnson should have also mentioned another first family of Dameron – the Demko’s!)

As you read Father’s comments, you will see that Mr. Carroll and Mrs. Trossbach receive quite a bit of attention. However, Mr. James Dameron, and by extension his store, only merit a sentence or two. Granted that Father did include Mr. D’s photo, so maybe it evens out some overall. However, in case you would like to hear more about James and his father T.L Dameron’s Store, I have done a couple of Buzzyblog posts on them previously that you can check out if you (click here) or here.)

And speaking of Mr. D, for some unexplained reason, Mick Taylor’s solo here (starting @ 2:05) was not included on the final album version of the song. Time concerns maybe? Maybe this once, time was not on their side. Yes, it isn’t!
