Sunday-say-a-prayer-day, I came upon a meme titled “Patient Trust” and recognized it immediately as Father de Chardin‘s Prayer:
Here it is and if this copy appears to be a little worn and torn that is because it has been magneted onto my fridge for a number of years. I keep it there to be reminded of the virtues of being patient.
I have waded around in these prayerful waters a couple of times previously here on the Buzzyblog (see links below or click here.) However, it was only recently that I realized Father de Chardin sounded like he was writing this to or for someone. The line where he says “And so I think it is with you” does not sound like the usual prayer mumbo jumbo as in “Thou art a child of God” kind of thing to say.
So I went digging and found the following explanation that confirmed my questioning it as a prayer:
All these years, I thought it was a prayer, only to learn that it was from a letter to his cousin (click here for related story.)
Only one song to play here right? Great song and a pretty good video too other than Slash screwing around with that snake @1:00.
OK, after needing some rain, thank you God, you’ve done a good job. Now stop! How’s that for a prayer? Nice weather is in the forecast for today. Why not come sit on a front porch at a Country Store where you can enjoy it? Not sure how much praying you will be able to do, but trust me – you will be able to relax and enjoy it rain or no rain!
