On Fridays here on Buzzyblog, I try and pass along various weekend events and things going on in the County in general and in particular in South County. Usually these are upbeat, fun notices where I encourage you to get out and go do some fun things and enjoy yourself.
Today however, the upcoming event I am about to discuss involves a funeral for a friend set for this coming Sunday.
The following obit says it all about my friend Richard (Dickie) Cullison who passed on 8 August.
Here is a great recent photo of Dickie taken by Billy Peterson. This is how I like to remember him: smiling, posing with two nice ladies in front of a drag racing vehicle and wearing a shirt that says “Pass joints not judgment.” Talk about saying it all.
My favorite photo of him however remains the one I took a couple years ago of him and Greg:
Song-wise, Elton’s “Funeral For A Friend” comes to mind here but with one hitch: Elton spends the first half of the song in slow mode before he starts to rock. Dickie on the other hand, never did anything in slow mode and rocked from start to finish. Thus, this Sammy song is a more fitting tribute to/for my friend Dickie.
