Bart and Mike

When Herbie McKay commented to me the other day that 11 December was the anniversary of Bart passing, he followed up with “Can you believe that it has been 10 years?” And while I never doubted that Herbie was correct in telling me that, it did sort of stun me. I responded with something insightful like “No way.”

Sure seems like it was only yesterday that Bart was in Buzzy’s Country Store sipping a Miller Lite beer.

Reminded me of the saying that as you get older and start to go downhill, you gain speed. (It’s all going by a little too fast for me.)

And since it’s a Twofer Tuesday, I’ll also mention Mike. He always comes to my mind in October on the day that he passed and then again in November on his birthday.

Ironically, it was on or about Mike’s birthday last month when I was going thru some old emails and found this very nice 2021 note from Tom McCoy:

Thank you Tom; your words meant alot to me.

And speaking of Tom, you always think of Petty as the bad ass Southern rock-n-roller that he indeed was. However, he could also blues you out with some very sad tunes such as the following. (Be sure to stay for the Mike Campbell solo at the end (5:55.)

Thomas Earl Petty 20 Oct 1950 – 2 Oct 2017.
