Brady texted me yesterday noting that 6 February featured a healthy list of famous folks born on that day. So, here I am only a day late, talking about famous folks who were all born on the 6th of February. (Note how many of these guys and gals had nicknames.)
There was a President, Ronald “Dutch” Reagan and a Vice President, Aaron “Dueling” Burr. (I just laid that nickname on old Aaron but you get the gist right?) There was even a king, as in “The King of Reggae” Bob Marley born on the 6th of February. Throw in a couple of nicknamed rock n rollers such as William Bruce Rose Jr. (how he got the nickname Axl is a good trivia question for you) and Edward Lionel Meadows Jr. aka Punky Meadows. There were two actresses Zsa Zsa (Sari) Gabor and Mamie (Joan Olander) Van Doren who is still around at 94 years young. (Zsa Zsa made it to 99 before heading onto greener acres. (Think I just mixed her up with her sister Eva there, but in my defense, they all seemed alike to me!)
Other famous folks born on 6 February include singer Natalie Cole, news dude Tom Brokow, Hitler’s squeeze Eva Braun, Baltimore Orioles’ Adley Rutschman. and J. E. B. Stuart. (I guess we can still include Confederate Generals in these lists of famous people.) J.E.B. stood for James Ewell Brown giving J.E.B. the prize for having had the longest given name while having the shortest of nicknames.
But mentioning Baltimore and baseball brings me to whom I think is the most famous of all 6 Feb birthday bubbas, and it is another nicknamed fella George Herman Ruth. “The Babe” was so famous that they named a candy bar in his honor. Reagan may have gotten an airport named for him (on 2/6/98 ironically via a bill signed by then President Bill Clinton); but I’m still siding with the Sultan of Swat. As it turns out, the Babe had several nicknames (click here.)
Music wise, in addition to Natalie Cole, Axl, Punky and Bob Marley, 6 February also serves as the birthday for the “Rickroll” boy himself Rick Astley Rumor has it that a Jeopardy contestant was able to have guessed this puzzle without needing any letters for clues. See if you can get it and if not, as the Doobies would say “Listen to the Music.”
