The Beverage Journal is a trade magazine used by liquor stores, bars and restaurants to order products for re-sale to their customers. (I have discussed The Journal in a couple of previous Buzzyblog posts (click here.) Buzzy’s Country Store was even featured in it back in 2019 (click here.))
When Buzzy would receive the new issue of The Journal, he would go through it to see which products were going on sale the following month, as well which ones that were going off sale in the current month. Many of you may recall seeing him sitting at the counter looking over and studying The Beverage Journal(s.) Usually, he would be reading one of the 4 newspapers he read daily. However, the last week of the month, he would be poring over The Beverage Journal looking for deals on booze.
The front part of The Beverage Journal consists of articles and info of interest to business owners. For instance in the February 25 issue that I am about to discard there was a good article from the Editor (pg 3) on St. Valentine’s Day. And then on pg 13 there was the cover story article about Tariffs. (Ironically, Tariffs was a topic back in 2019 too (click here.)
Featured in the February issue was a Baltimore Fells Point bar One Eyed Mike’s. (Note that I had to smile when I recognized that the author Teddy Durgin was the same guy who interviewed me for 2019 Buzzy story in The Journal. Good see him still doing what he does.)
And while I don’t think Buzzy’s is quite ready for a Grand Marnier Bottle Club, I do like that Shot in the Dark idea. Something to think about.
And since Teddy mentioned Ozzy and this tune, here it is:
