Preakness Today

Even though the Triple Crown possibility is a no-no with Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty passing up the chance to try and do so, the Preakness will go on later today.

And without that Triple Crown fixation to consider, there is really only one horse to root for imho (click here.) Enter the Sandman and although he finished 7th in the Derby, the Preakness should be more to his liking.

Oddsmakers currently have him second to the favorite Journalism. With only 9 horses in the race, betting exactas and trifectas should see some action. I would say do the 2 favorites and throw in a longshot like Pay Billy for example and you may get lucky. “We’re off to never-never land!”

At Buzzy’s Country Store we will have a pool or two for you to try and get lucky when/if your pick crosses the finish line first. Post time is not until 6:50 which leads me to wonder if perhaps that is why Sovereignty passed on the Preakness – it was past his bed time! (There probably is a “nightmare” joke in there somewhere if you care to pursue it.)

Music-wise there shouldn’t be any big surprise what tune is coming at you right?

P.S. In my previous list of things to do in South County this weekend, I neglected to mention the following Friends of Pt. Lookout event going on Saturday and Sunday:
