My son Brady and wife Caitie have spent this past week doing a family vacation taking in Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, the Cass Railroad and New River Gorge Bridge.
Brady sent me this photo of my Grandkids:
New River is most famous for its bridge over the gorge:
Ironically enough, I had just thought of this bridge yesterday morning as I wrote the Buzzyblog “Bernie” post. I thought of the bridge because a fella named Bernie Shields whom I used to work with grew up near there. He often told stories of how when he was a kid he and his friends watched the construction of the bridge and marveled at how big and how high it was. Anytime I hear about or meet someone named Bernie, I think of my old workmate and in turn this bridge.
But the bridge and the nearby park weren’t the only noteworthy sites that Caitie and Brady checked out. They also took the kids to a nice country store with a front porch and green trim:
I found the following on Swiftwater’s website:
Musically, how about I spare you the “Bridge Over Trouble Water” schmaltz fest for something a little more upbeat. It has a funny video too:
