Paper Lace was a one and a half hit wonder with this tune that went to Number 1 on Billboard charts in 1974. Their version of “Billy Don’t Be a Hero” which they also wrote and recorded, went to Number 1 in the U.K. but failed to chart in the U.S. A group named Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods had a number hit with that dog of a song.
