Yesterday, I had the pleasure of checking out the new deck that Duncan and his crew installed at Buzzy’s Country Store while I was away traveling these past couple of weeks. My first reaction is that I love it!
Thanks to Jenny sending me some photos (click here) of the new deck in progress, I had had some idea of what it looked like. However, yesterday, viewing the finished product in person for the first time was very cool. It came out great and my thanks to Duncan and company for all of their efforts.
Some first photos for you:
Someone suggested having a deck christening party, so I will put that on the Upcoming Buzzy Events calendar and plan accordingly.
I also want to thank Mike Fenhagen who built the original deck that held up for 50 some years. Mike is shown here recently explaining why Buzzy wanted the original deck stepped down like it was. (It had to do with money of course.) Note too how Mike wrapped the deck bench around the walnut tree and twice thru the years had to cut the decking because the tree had grown into it.
As it turns out, the last photo taken of me on the deck with someone was this one that Clyde took a few weeks ago of Mike and me surveying and saying so long to Mike’s original work.
And while speaking of things new, here is a new artist (to me at least) that I just discovered. There is an interesting back story as to how I learned about her, so next time you are in Buzzy’s checking out the new deck, remind me to tell you just how Jamie popped up on my radar. Conclusion – the road of life has many twists and turns for people and decks.
Don’t forget to swing by Buzzy’s later today to say goodbye to Pam and Pat.
